Let's Build Something Meaningful Together

Great exhibitions don't happen in isolation — they grow from genuine collaboration between institutions, artists, and the communities they serve. As a remote-friendly, travel-ready guest curator, I bring the research depth, creative vision, and organizational experience to make that happen wherever you are.

Based wherever the work takes me, I partner with galleries, cultural centers, and community organizations across the country to design exhibitions that resonate far beyond opening night. From shaping the initial thematic framework to coordinating open calls, jury processes, and artist relationships, I manage the full arc of a project — so your team can focus on what you do best. The result: exhibitions that spark real conversation, draw new audiences, and leave a lasting mark on your community.

Remote-friendly and available to travel. Currently open to guest curatorial partnerships with galleries, cultural centers, and community organizations nationwide. Let's talk.

01

Thematic Research & Frameworks

I translate complex ideas — environmental shifts, cultural memory, the human psyche — into clear, navigable exhibition structures that artists and audiences can both inhabit.

02

Full Project Management

From open calls and jury coordination to artist relationships and installation day, I manage the entire lifecycle so nothing falls through the cracks.

03

Community & Audience Connection

Exhibitions should feel alive. I design participatory experiences that invite visitors — and the broader community — into genuine dialogue with the work.

Biography

About the Curator

Background & Education

I hold a B.A. in Visual Art/Design from Southeastern Louisiana University and have studied Color Theory, Drawing, and Studio at the Academy of Fine Art San Francisco. I completed an M.A. in Arts Administration and an M.A. in Preservation Design from Savannah College of Art and Design.

I founded and directed The Art Angel Project — a community residency that opened doors for artists who might otherwise never have had a platform — and the Farmstead Project, a preservation and conservation initiative rooted in place, memory, and collective stewardship. These projects reflect what drives me: the belief that art is most powerful when it belongs to everyone.

With over a decade working across galleries, institutions, and community organizations, I've learned that the best exhibitions are built on trust — between curators and artists, between institutions and their neighborhoods, between the work on the walls and the people who walk through the door.

"Art is most powerful when it belongs to everyone."

Biletnikoff has built something that defies the traditional gallery model — a living, breathing micro creative retail ecosystem where artists don't just make work, they thrive. Art spills from studios into courtyards and parking lots, makers sell directly to their neighbors, and the community walks in not as passive viewers but as participants. It's curation from the ground up, connecting artists directly to the people around them.

Biletnikoff has built something rare — a working infrastructure for local artists, curating large-scale community events across a studio and arts complex that extends from gallery walls to exterior markets. His commitment is to the artists who live and make work here, creating accessible space and visible platforms for independent voices in the regional scene.

Artist Voices

What Artists Say

Artwork by Alaine DiBenedetto
Mark is an artist, curator, and mentor unlike anyone I have known. For more than 25 years, his focus has been on supporting regional artists and building community through art. Having worked alongside him, I have experienced firsthand his generosity, intelligence, and commitment to artists. Mark has always been more interested in creating opportunities for others than promoting himself.

Artist & Former Studio Artist

I have been privileged to work with Mark in several areas. He managed the complex where many artists, including myself, had their studios. He put together art events at our space and brought in many people to see our art for the first time! He also curated several shows over the years and was so easy to work with. The shows I participated in were successful — meaning well attended!

Mark was always incredibly supportive, optimistic, and helpful. He stayed deeply connected to what was happening in the Baton Rouge arts community while also cultivating a unique creative ecosystem of his own. He genuinely cared about the success, growth, and well-being of the people around him — and for me, that environment was a wonderful place to incubate my business, develop my creativity, and grow into the work I'm doing today.

If you're a museum, gallery, cultural center, or community organization with a vision that needs a curatorial partner — I'd genuinely love to hear from you. I work remotely and travel to your location, so geography is never a barrier. The best exhibitions start with a conversation.
